Why WoW is better than GW [IMO]
I have played WoW recently for about 2 weeks, Ever since I started people ahve been friendly and helpful. LvL 60 characters ahve helped me through ahrd spots and given me money and equimpent they don't need. I generally get a gfeeling that I'm partof a comunity who is driving towards a common goal.
I have played GW since the beta, and I enjoyt this style of game play more than WoW's style. However I have recived Grief, Abuse, flaming and general unplesantness from a lot of people. From in game to the forums. I don't know what went wrong, but a.net seem to have created a magnet for the worset online gamers.
So though GW is tecnically a better an potentially a more enjoyable game, the thing that really lets it down is the people who play it and their general crappy attitute to other players. This is where WoW wins hands down, and this is why I mainly solo play GW. Now I'm so bored with the attitude I'm looking at other ways to make the game fun such as cataloging Armour and making an interesting beastry. Hell I may even go on to cataloging plants and trees, becasue it's a damn sight more satifiying than actaully playing the game at the moment.
What I have said here will upset a few people, but this is my opinion after playing both games. and I'm sute a lot of peopel will disagree, but there are a few people who will see what i'm getting at.

Hmmm, a game with no monthly fees - sad to say but it is going to attract the idiots.

I can see why monthly fees are good now even if they are pointless, you get less idoits. Though I don't agree with monthly fees I rather pay that to get rid of the idiots.

Everything which is basically free attracts the bottom of the barrel in terms of emotional intelligence. Nothing special about that. WoW has his idiots too but definitely so very very few compared to GW that it might make you laugh.

you c0mplete uber-n00b.....just kidding.
I think the reason GW has a community chalked full of badass wannabes is because there is no monthly fee. The people that play WoW love it enough to pay for it month after month and want newbies (the good kind) to find the enjoyment they have found.
On the other hand, You don't need to love GW to play it, a general enjoyment is good enough. So you get all sorts of people playing GW, and a lot of them couldn't possibly care less if you like the game or not.
I personally help people in Guild wars when I can, and I hope there are more people that like me then the spammer, flamer noobcakes.

I'm just praying for the next big non a.net PvP game to come out and maybe it will improve GW becasue all of these idoits will leave. Becaue at themoment I get no enjoyment working in teams outside my guild. And I spend more time in pre searing heloing new players than actually playing the game. But you still get your scammers and wankers around pre.

True, you often see the same thing when you follow a game through it's beta stages to retail. As soon as you have to pay for it the majority of the greifers/idiots, ect leave.
Personally I think what Anet has done is a great idea. I like the idea of a game where you don't feel at a disadvantage because you have to work for a living and can't keep up with da kidz who play 24/7. I like the idea of not being under any pressure to spend all my spare time playing the game so I can feel that I am getting value for money out of my monthly fee...
I can count the number of people who have really hassled me while playing this game on one hand. Obviously I'm not counting the idiots in the larger cities who are being generally abusive and annoying, just the ones who have targetted me personally (for example in a PuG, ect). Maybe it's worse on the US servers, I dont know.
What I can say that it's no-where near bad enough to drive me back to a monthly-fee game (and if I did then it certainly would not be WoW....but I digress). This may be because I don't have much interest in PvP and so don't get abuse in HoH ect..

WoW community is not worse than GW however it is TERRIBLE. Just cause a game has monthly fees doesn't mean there will be less idiots. Kids with rich parents and who are just plain spoiled will still get thier hands on the game. The best community I have plaid in was EQ2 but sadly the game wasn't up to par.

That fact I find hillarious.
First off, I'll point out that I RARELY find people that i cant stand, my ignore list consists of 2 people. You know whats wrong? People that play guild wars for PvE(not all but alot) are people that CANT play world of warcraft for the PvE(I havnt played it but i assume the PvE must be better), so thats all they are able to play. Alot more people that play it for the PvP(myself included) are people that enjoy the game and would choose it over any other regardless of monthly fee. I live for PvP, and I just dont see the challenge in killing pretend monsters that are not controlled by a real brain. And really, if you fight these pretend monsters and fault or lose(do something bad enough to get someone pissed off or being an idiot) you really deserve it. Just get good at tombs, find a good guild. If you dont like it, guild wars probably isnt for you. Anyone who doesnt do tombs(arenas included) really seem to fall in the intelligence. My fury really comes out when im testing a build in arenas, and nobody res's because they are busy killing, then we lose because they didn't res the monk.
Also, the point that GW has more idiots then WoW is obvious, you dont have to beat the dead horse...

I agree. The reason is probably because this game doesn't have monthly fees.

I'm sorry, but Blizzard doesn't allow hackers. They have large-scale bannings, although I'm not sure how often it has been recently.

No, the reason I don't play WoW for it's pVe content is because of my inherent phobia of glowing purple eyes. And kids.

Yea, much words of wisdom. I have many kids in my school since 8th grade, no offense but stupid people that im sure suck and if they acted half as immature in the game as they did in real life it would still drive people crazy.
And if you say that a large percentage of GW is young, I presume you dont PvP on vent, theres not alot of us out there.

Actually, it's more that the OP isn't to the hard parts yet. In WoW, player roles, especially in early areas, are very easy to play. For example, Warriors have all sorts of aggro management abilities, and even if they fail to hold aggro, the healers can just chain-heal themselves or the target and the enemy would probably go down pretty quickly. This changes in the higher level dungeons. It's almost impossible to take a PUG successfully through those dungeons. If you thought PUGing through Thunderhead Keep was hard, wait till you get to Molten Core.

Wait till you get a few more weeks of playing time, especially if you have the misfortune of being the minority race and playing on a PvP server. That's when you'll hit the contested areas (like Stranglethorn Vale). I've heard reports of enemy level 60's camping quest mobs in PvE servers, and I've experienced enemy gank squads looking for unsuspecting lowbie questors on a PvP server. There's also the issue with Tarren Mill being overrun by Alliance at almost every time of the day. That's also when leveling gets really slow and equipment begins to play a key role in your success or failure.

It may have gotten better, but the official WoW forums were awful when I played. Not only that, there are those oh-so-fun corpse-campers and rez area campers who'd love nothing more than to make it so you can't play that character. And then there's people on your own side who keep killing the mobs you need, which frustrated me to no end. True, there was a sense of community on your own side, but there was also a sense of distrust and paranoia of people on the other side. That actually led me to gank unsuspecting people who were probably just questing out of the fear that leaving them alone would lead them to gank me later.
By the way, I play mainly for PvP, and GW PvP is miles and miles better than WoW PvP. Items and level, not skill, is what's mainly important in WoW. Additionally, WoW PvP was generally stuff like 40v40, which de-emphasises individual skill.
